Just got the head off my project car before I take the engine out to be rebuilt. It has 998 cooper D tops, which are no longer made, where can I find the correct rings? According to the ring page on Minispares website they share the same dimensions as standard pre- a plus rings, could these be used? Is there a 'rating' as such for rings - the engine is 998 miligia spec, and the rings will need to withstand a 12:1cr and up to 8500rpm (649 cam).

Or just buy flat tops and machine the head?

Would need a blank piston then, as you'd need to move the gudgeon pin as well

My best guess would be that these rings are fine but will need regular replacing,Mine didn't break on high revs but people like cooperman have more experience with this in terms of how long they last.

Pre-A+ Rings will be fine.

AE won't have rings these days that will suit them as they have now gone to a metric ring.

Grant and Hastings do excellent rings.

They both have Plain Iron and Chrome Rings available.
