I have a set of the mini speed split rims which are 6x10", what I am wondering is what arches will be suitable and also will I need to chop anything away from the wing for them to fit?

Depending on the rim offset you normally have to cut away the leading edge of the front wings to prevent rubbing on full lock, especially if the suspension is lowered or the rubber cones have settled the ride height.

I use W&P arches with my 6x10's but they could do with being slightly wider arches to cover the tyre tread as borderline for MOT, etc.

Minispeed dont actually tell you what the offset is but if i were to fit a sportspack rack would this help things as they have the bump stops?

The Sportspack rack limits the amount of steering lock for 6x13 wheels as they can rub the inner arches but they also need the front outer wing area cut back........the amount of steering lock is not really the problem with 6x10 wheels as usually they clear the inner arches ok because of their smaller diameter, it is the extra width and offset of 6x10's which often needs the front outer wing edge/lip cut back in a similar way to 13" wheels. They sometimes do clear when stationary on full lock but rub if cornering hard, hit a bump mid corner or have lowered suspension.

Thanks for this I assumed the rack would help but now I understand, I have been looking up the best method which seems to be bending a return further in than standard, would that be correct, also how do you make sure that your wheels don't rub when going round a corner and you hit a bump, is there like a safe distance or is it just done by eye? Cheers

It is best to get your chosen wheel arch extensions first and see how much they can 'flex' to adapt to the slightly changed curve of the cut back front wing arch. Some arches like W&P also need to be cut away on the inside face if not hollowed out mouldings.

Cut away the wing section near the front bumper area where it is nearest the tyre with steering on full lock. Do this by eye and trial and error but leave enough metal to fold round a new arch return lip if possible using mole grips, etc. The maximum you can cut away is up to the bumper flange as is usually the case with 13" wheels but try to get away with less as it makes the arch extension easier to flex and fit.

You may still get some rubbing in worst case conditions like cornering hard on rough or pot holed roads but in practice there are not that many occasions when you are using full lock except when parking at slow speed or in competition events.
