Anyone ever used one of these old computers from the 80's, little magnetic pick up behind the speedo and something fits to dizzy and tells you milleage to gallon. Picked it up at car boot couple of years back and was thinking of fitting but are they worth the effort of fitting?(that's if still works not had chance to test out yet) if anyone has had first had experience of these things.

I've not seen that one, but I did use a Sparkrite unit, still have it in fact, but not presently fitted to anything.

I liked it, handy on longer trips but for around town, I didn't really bother paying much attention to it.

Worth the effort? Well, really, that's up to you, though there's nothing that these do that you can't do with pencil and paper (and maybe a calculator).

After fitting, you'll need to calibrate it, but that's not what I'd call difficult (at least on the Sparkrite)

I've recently come across a similar but more compact unit to the Sparkrite unit that when time permits, I'll be fitting up to the Moke.

I would just use an app on a smart phone.

How we really on phone apps for everything now, doubt that would be as accurate, as this also fits to the fuel pipe so can guage how much fuel is really been used, that is providing this is accurate! but also would have the retro look to it as well.

Looks pretty cool!

I rather like to know what mpg in getting in our family car and hate sitting there working it out, not so worried about the mini though, considering the speedo is inaccurate as is the petrol guage lol
