ok bear with me.....

The other day the brake/clutch was bleed and redone

I had no other issue and the car drives great till i noticed oil seeping out from the radio on the dash?

It seems to seep oil after driving.....

The clutch/brake cyclinder is dry as a bone and not losing fluid - so whats occuring

as it cannot be good for the radio/behind the dash (felt around and seems dry) or from wherever its leaking from

Any advice as i cannot find anybody with a similar issue

Thanks

Lenny

Is it definitely oil? Just thought it could be a heater matrix leak, sometimes the coolant can be very black/brown if it's old.

Do you have an oil pressure gauge in your dashboard?

well it seems like oil - though it is a dark brown colour....

Yes i have a Oil pressure gauge but it is reading ok?

just come back from a drive and bet it's seeping again - will go back and wipe around the radio housing again

(the heater is working fine)

Similar happened to a mate of mine, only the Oil was dripping from the Speedo, just wondering if in fact this is where the oil is coming from in your case?

In his case it was from blow by, apart from Oil getting past the Primary Gear Seal it was also coming up the Speedo Cable.

I would check the oil pressure gauge cause if it mechanical it has an oil line coming from then engine into the car which could leak at the gauge into the car

Yeh this ^

That's what I was asking if you had a gauge for, usually they're above the radio if you've got a 3+3 dash set up.

Where's your stereo, can you put some tissue around the stereo to see what direction the oils coming from.

my dash is the typical one with 3 small dials above the radio

will have to check around the radio and the gauge tomorrow - is it possible to be running via the speedo cable as i have seen somewhere else via the primary oil seal?

the oil gauge is left of the 3 dials above where the radio's main leak appears....

i guess its take of the dash and look tomorrow...

thanks guys

My money is on the capillary tube going into the oil pressure gauge ;)

That would be my first port of call. it only has a tiny fibre washer on the back of the gauge, and the oil feed pipe can go quite brittle with age. If they do let go completely, it will loose all oil pressure, so definitely worth a look. sympathies with having to take the dash off though. I hate that job.

I had oil dripping from the dash in my car.  It turned out to be the fibre washer used to seal the capillary tube to the oil pressure gauge had perished and split.

As gross as this sounds, smell and taste the fluid.

Antifreeze will smell and taste sweet.  Motor oil will smell... like oil and have an unpleasant taste but not as bad as gasoline.

Footnote Story:  25 years ago my wife called to tell me there was red liquid dripping out of the console of her VW.  Since she was miles from home she took the car to a local garage.  They found the "leak" quickly.  I had left a pack of cinnamon chewing gum in the coin drawer.  Summer heat had broken the gum down causing it to drip red oil.  You never know what these things may turn out to be.
