Is it Harvest Gold , I'm sure it looks. The same as my 1st car. It's in lovely condition, shame it has oversills on though.

yes matey, the over sills aren't an issue, maybe in 5 years or something but won't cause anything for a long time. They will get changed over anyway and to be honest its the only thing that bothers me and thats only slightly :P

Those sills aren't heritage they are sacrilege. Rest of the car looks. Very nice though. Get them pumped full of wax and should last a reasonable amount of time though.

the door sills are lol know there not, they will get sorted at some point but not important for now, lots of wax is going in for sure i would say :) thanks for the idea :)

Very, very nice looking original Mini, keep it standard right down to the steel wheels it looks the nuts. All I would do other than fix one or two little issues is get the oversills removed and proper sills fitted and sprayer up. A very nice buy - enjoy.

its not staying standard completely as mentioned, but that will a month away from now, hi-lows and better shocks is a possibility, i new exhaust as this one is a little bit crusty. But we really want to re condition these cosmics to a high standard and put them as there a nice part of the 70's and will suite the car very very well, we will obviously keep the steel wheels, the oversills will get done in time once we have saved up again :) want to be careful where i take it too be done though lol

Nice standard looking 70#'s clubby you have found yourself.

Probably worth the most possible in standard form.

The best money you can spend is to replace the oversills and should you modify it keep the original parts and only make reversible modifications.

What does you GF want to do with it?

Good luck with your new car

sooo

here she is again

6205C01E-39EC-4781-9664-8F5AEBC724C4.jpg

So this morning, we a little service, fresh oil and filter, new rocker cover gasket, reset rockers, WD40'd all linkages and heater control on the head, now blow hot air which is ace as it was completely stuck, tuned the carb a little and cleaned the filter.

Who knew that a serviced amount of oil from a mini was exactly the same as a 2KG roses box lol

My girlfriend whilst i doing all that changed the candle lights to some nice lucas halogens and as we were out till late was definitely worth it!

We gave her a nice little polish and then headed out. We went for a drive all around malvern/Worcestershire, we did roughly 30-40 miles completely trouble free, absolutely brilliant!

The water temperature still doesn't work on the dash still which is annoying, i replaced the connector on the switch on the engine but still not working. Very good otherwise.

After we got home, I test fitted the comics I bought which are the perfect fit, we couldn't be happier with them, new steels all round apparently as the back of the wheel is pretty clean :)

and the 'new' wheels offset are to where we wanted them to be :)

and really clean behind it as well i.e. no rust so just need to degrease it all down which ill do in time with the engine at the same time...

Investigate the brake pipe near the radiator as it looks a little rusty in the second from last photo

Thanks :)
we love it and it certainly very good for the age, the overfills will come in time but want to get some other stuff sorted first :)

Were not chucking anything apart from the head lining when it gets replaced with the same stuff, as there is some marks on it from i can only assume from smoking as lets to be honest everyone smoked in the seventies lol

The parts were replacing are just clean all the engine bay and degrease everything properly, drop engine out and give it a paint in original colour, wheels in the original colours they were sold in, exhaust, inlet manifold and nicer suspension components.

Laura and I are both in love with the car and we've decided on period modifications, get it running better than from factory etc. its in good hands and in no way are we doing anything like drilling holes for arches! this is a very special car to us and we intend to make it only better and better keeping it original in the best of ways

its had new brake pipes, drum cylinders and shoes, so brake pipes and master cylinders (both) will be replaced as original parts when the engine comes out :)
