What type of engine mounts should I go for?

 

Minispares have:

 

The captive nut type, which apparently make fitting easy:

Or the original shaped ones which are supposedly better fitting, and do their job better:

Standard mounts were always fine for me. Heard of issues with captive nuts, there's no 'wiggle-room' when fitting them. You have to be spot on or you knacker the threads.

When I tried to use a captive nut engine mount I found it very difficult to line it up so I could screw the screw in. I find it much easier to use the plain mounts.

I've gone for originals. Never done them before and dreading it.

They created a solution for a problem that didn't exist.

Get some green garden wire and fashion your special tool for feeding the bolt into the correct position,

 

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS

 

bolts go downwards for safety if the nuts work loose the engine will still be held in place and alert you to an issue, if you fit the bolts going upwards and the fall out the engine can float around a lot, trap the battery cable and cause a thermal event

Fit Standard type only

As above said, bolts go downwards for a reason

Done my off side mount today while the rads out.
I witnessed a mirracle as I eventually got the bottom bolt back in from underneath!!! Praise the Lord.

Not sure if I will do the other one as I can't even see it, Never mind get to it.
