Hello everyone,

Tomorrow is going to be my first attempt at fitting any kind of seats...if the weather allows.  I'm having a go at it, 'cause, might as well right?  I'm going to be removing two bucket seats that have been screwed into the floor of the mini and sit on a sliding, tilted sub-frame, the bolts/nuts come out underneath and are exposed to the elements. (If I get any tech terms wrong, sorry!)

As far as I'm aware, the Mary Quant seats are going to just need hinges?  As they're the old type of mini seats that pull forward to allow passengers to jump in the back.  What type of hinge do I need and am I'm going to have to drill into the crossbar 'thingie' that is underneath the seats?

Also, is it possible to use a sub-frame of some kind for these Mary Quant  seats?  'Cause I'm a shorty, and want to be as close as possible to the pedals, 'cause as it stands... at the moment, with the slanted bucket seats, only the tips of my toes reach the pedals. (¬_¬)

Many thanks to anyone who has the patience to answer my questions! lol

PS:  If pictures are needed, I can do that tomorrow. (^_^)

Well you need the mounts to bolt onto the cross bar and you will need the hoop to bolt to the floor for seats to clip into.

So it kinda depends on what you actually have.

you will need a set of these.

hopefully the original mounting holes in the cross member will be unmolested. it really is not worth trying to mount them any other way. they should just mount in "as standard"

you will also see two hooks on the bottom of the seats (one on each). these hook onto a rail that should be bolted to the mini floor. if you don't have these you will need them for the MOT. if you dont have them i can take some photos to show what you need

Thanks for the speedy reply, nicklouse.

Uuuuh, all I have is the seats.  No mounts, no hoop, no nothing.  :ohno:  I thought it might have been a case of nipping out and getting some spare parts to do that?

Oh wow, thanks The Anorak.

Not sure if the original mounting holes are there, so once I have one seat out tomorrow, I can have a look see and find out!  Yeah, I want to make sure I do the job proper and not mess it up so much that it fails the next MOT. (X_X)

The holes are on the front of the cross member. With weld nuts in them.

Wait, I need that hoop as well as the kit?  In my head I was seeing those brackets bolting the seat the cross bar.  OK, I'm a noob, but I'm a determined noob!

this may help. you can see the two brackets on the cross member. they bolt into the front. i really cant see why anyone would mess with these holes so hopefully they will be there. you can also see the hoop, just in front of the white soundproofing. these may be there but i doubt it. hopefully the holes will be... good luck.

Thanks you two.  The visuals really help!

No, those hoops are not in the mini currently.  Hopefully the holes will be there.  Will find out tomorrow, and seek out the parts locally, if not I'll order them in.  Thanks again and will update when I can!  Maybe start a projects page. :o
