I am soon fitting the JCSW upgrade to my MPi .

The existing exhaust looks a bit ropy and the cat catches on the floor lip into my garage. Most is replaced with the kit but not the cat.

I know I can exchange for an OEM approved cat, but some cats claim to have fewer cells and better flow

eg:   http://www.ebay.co.u...Q3Y09EsZ84u-7LA

and give 4-5bhp! (the photo is identical to other cheaper listings)

I would value any opinions on this.

Cheers

Ed

ps. If they pass scrutiny, there are cheaper similarly designed  tubular ones that should meet MOT requirements, but hopefully won't catch on the garage floor.

Mini spares also do a 200 cell cat a tad more expensive (remember the 7.5% tmf discount)

I will likely buy the mini spares one.

....some cats claim to have fewer cells and better flow.... and give 4-5bhp!
& according to some sellers they also whiten your teeth, reverse male pattern baldness, & boost your libido!
Seriously though i'd go with minisilverbullets advice & get a RC40 200 cell cat. More expensive but you know it's decent quality & will improve flow.
If you had done a google search then you'd know that Hoffmann exhausts don't have too bad a reputation (if it is a genuine Hoffmann & not a cheap copy) but Maniflow & RC40 seem to be better, also the seller only has one review & it's not good -i mean really not good.

I asked a similar question here:

http://www.theminifo...catalyst-where/

another member offered to weld up a standard sports cat, to the correct length and correct flanges. might be worth checking out.
