re-edited footage taken from a VHS tape of the 1993 London to Brighton Mini run. I have overlaid a new soundtrack using some of the same music from the original tape. The black 1970 850cc mini was my first car. the young guy in the leather jacket... is me !!!

did anyone else go in 1993 ???

Great video, nice to see L2B is as popular now as it was then. If I saw some footage of me I would't know if I should laugh or cry. Where has the time gone.

Thanks for posting the video! :mrcool:

I was there in 1993 and was also on the very first London to Brighton Run in 1986 and I remember starting from Battersea Park in London and the finish was at Preston Park in Brighton. I wonder how many of those Mini's taking part in 1993 have since gone to the scrapyard......

LSMOC Quote:
"The first Run was a pretty low-key affair. The LSMOC was only a small club and there was no easy way to let people know about it. There were no Mini magazines back then and only a dozen clubs. Battersea Park and Preston Park in Brighton were booked for a nominal fee. The first Run was held up by bikers protesting about being made to wear helmets. Once the cars were parked we managed to count them and there were just over 200 of them. There was little organised at Brighton and people just looked around the cars and chatted about the run. However, it was clear people really enjoyed driving down to Brighton together. The Club certainly didnt realise how important the first Run was, devoting just nine lines to it in the first newsletter after the event."

great bit of footage and history. In 93 minis still had 7 or so years of production and unlike today they were a familiar sight on our roads.

A great video, nice to see all the popular add ons of that period and..... not a damn mobile phone in sight AND, it was nice to see a couple of kids playing kerb ball on your return. I never see them doing that anymore.
