Ok so after many hours of reading your threads and posts I thought I would face my fears and take on a project myself, literally basic knowledge of anything mini related but I've grown up loving them and admiring them from a distance without the funds to go and buy one, until now anyway !

So my first mini is this 1990 model in bright red !

From what I can see the bodywork in general is reasonably solid and everything I wanted from a project is already present like the seats, cage and new red carpet throughout.

At some point back in 2002 this car was featured in mini world over a 6 page spread and back then had a 1340 engine which since then was removed and replaced by a standard very dirty 998 that runs ok but needs some tlc.

My plan subject to changing at least 1,000,000 times I'm sure is to strip her back and go over her with a fine tooth comb and to repair anything that needs attention whilst styling her my way with the added fun of putting in a slightly bigger engine with more power that's looks as shiny as the rest of the car when finished, along the way I get experience of something I've longed to do and hopefully walk away with the pride of doing something myself like I'm sure many of you have who have been doing the same.

Again without sounding too soft your projects and hard work have been a great source of motivation and I look forward to doing my best and seeing what happens, with a very demanding job and 3 great kids (most of the time anyway!) it's going to be quite slow but hopefully achieved within 12 months.

Anyway let's get started............

Good luck with the project. Totally agree with your ideas. Just take your time, you will definitely change your mind about what you want as you go through it Satisfaction at the  end.  And a great big smile factor!

Good look with it mate, at least it looks like you have a decent start unlike some of us lol.
Don't worry about changing your mind mine know is getting painted the original colour scheme I was going. I even painted my mirrors ready to fit once the car was done and then changed my mind and bought totally different ones lol

I'm a bit worried about the floor and its condition so it maybe a case of removing it, hoped to avoid anything like that !

A whole floor is easy to replace. Get all that sound deadening off and you will soon see what's needed

I remember that car from the magazine! I was only 16 at the time and wanted my first mini so badly at the time!!

Good luck with the car.. and enjoy it!
