Currently have the cylinder head off my 998 Mini 30 because of a blown head gasket.

The surfaces are far from ideal but my more pressing concern is that 2 of the water channels in the block appear to have been completely blocked by rust, (see picture).

Any ideas on how I can go about remedying this? How ruined could the inside of my block be?

Obviously I don't really want to throw it all back together in this state, any advice would be much appreciated,

Cheers

David

+1 on it looking clear.  Perhaps you were looking at the circles where the head gasket used to sit and thought the entire circle should be open.

Agree with Pete, Nick and D. Don't think Spitfires have this problem.
