Hello, I just wondered if someone had a view on the following. I have bought a touch up can/aerosol from 3 different suppliers and each one dries slightly too light for the colour on my Sportspack. Unless I'm a bit careful what is a small touch up job may morph into a resprayed wing - something I'm anxious to avoid. Any thoughts please? David.

check to see if there are different shades :) also dont forget the paint you are doing is almost 20yrs old, and was base and clear, so dont forget the clear coat can change the shade depending on the make used

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I think you're right, about the clear coat which has made a slight difference. The bit of iffy paint in question is the lipped weld straight down under the headlight, where the weld has "bled" from the back etc. Usual stuff. I guess I will suffer the blemishes until it gets to the stage where I have it stripped and sprayed. Annoying, as I have had the car from new and kept "on it".

best thing to do is go see a local paint shop, get them to sandblast the area of the bled re seal and paint, should not cost too much to get done

Yes, it's probably the way to go. The rest of the car is concours so it needs doing at some stage. You see, in 1970's when we stuck a fibre glass flip front on, we never had this problem.....
