I'm looking for guidance on how to install the distributor and ensure that is in the correct position timing wise in my newly rebuilt 1991 998 a+ engine, I have no mark to install the distributor to as the block has been totally stripped and painted. I know I need to get the engine to tdc on number one cylinder, what do I have to do next?

I now know that the rotor arm should point to number one lead exit on distributor cap but you can just twist the body of the distributor to point to this position,is this correct?

Ish,

You can ignore the bit at the start about timing marks and, of course, there's no separate clamp housing to struggle with.
