Gear Linkage Oil Leak

Another way of removing the alloy sleeve is to carefully drill a hole in it and screw in a self tapper which you can then use pliers on to pull it out.

I have read the posts already about changing the seals and am half way through.
The problem is the old rubber seal was that perished that as I am trying to remove with a screwdriver it has disintegrated. The problem is it has left loads of debris on the alloy sleeve. Not an issue hopefully as I have a replacement alloy sleeve.
I cannot budge the alloy sleeve, are there any tips or tricks as I have no idea. There seems no way of prizing out with a screw driver which is what the Haynes manual says.
Any help very much appreciated, hopefully I am missing something easy as the pin came out very well, which someone in another post said should be the hard but.
Cheers

There are two pins on the alloy sleeve. If the one that attaches it to the lower gear selector rod is still in place then movement would be minimal. This one may have to be removed too so it can slide backwards out of the way. Always replaced this seal with the gear linkage off the car so please correct me if I am wrong.

As RedRuby says, drill and screw in a self tapper then lever out using the self tapper.
