Cheers Nick,at first i tried it on the front frame(behind n/plate) but as this part is sloping it kept moving even with a 12"x 4"x1" wood filler to spread the load.

finally got it safely up on the sub frame bottom of suspension.

Fitted a gear box to sub frame steady.(we've got that many speed bumps where I am,every time going over them was a p.i.t.a.) felt like the engine was gonna fall out!!

A lot better now with the g.box steady fitted, got some more poly bushes coming to replace the old rubbers.

I bought a bulk head to engine adjustable steady bar (thermostat housing side) but there seams to be an engine breath/cannister + a couple of pipes in the way.

Mini's a 91 Mayfair,so maybe I bought the wrong pass side/N.Side steady?

To jack the car up I normally put the jack in from behind the front wheel to the rearmost part of the horizontal part of the subframe (you will see what I mean if you look under the front subframe), which then allows a stand to be put under the front part of the subframe. If you put the jack under the front you generally can't get a stand under the rear part.

Cheers all, I ended up removing the g/box to subframe  steady.just weird the amount of vibration on start up and tick over? when running in top it was ok.

please note this was with BOTH g/box to subframe and new poly bushes in the factory top mount (clutch res bracket to block)

Anyone else had this?

Fitting extra steadies and/or polybushes will transfer more noise and vibration through the car yes.

Also, when jacking, I always roll the jack in from the front, jack on the flat bit under the bottom arm, then put the heck stand in from behind the front wheel and put it in front of the jack in the subframe. Never had a single problem like this
