Hi
How heavy is a orange diaphragm for pre veto clutch. I've got a grey one at the moment as it was recommended for my engine spec but I have since made it a little less Leary so won't be needing the strength. Just wondered how much stronger the Orange is over a standard diaphragm.
Thanks

Brown (std for 850cc) = 540 lb

Green (std for 998cc) = 708 lb

Blue (std for 1275cc) = 854 lb

Orange ('rally') = 1178 lb

Grey ('full race') = 1280 lb

Above numbers taken from Des Hammill's 'The 1275cc A-Series High Performance Manual'

As a rough guide when using above diaphragms with a well set up standard clutch plate the torque before slip occurs is about 10% of the clamp load. So a blue spring should cope with up to about 85 ft-lb.

should do,

although they can vary a fair bit from  cover to cover, the orange should be ok for about 130 hp, a freind of mine has been putting 150 through one, although its very borderline.

personally an orange is the strongest diaghram clutch i would run on the road, after that i would go to a verto with two springs stacked on top of each other ( the RTS). this is a good way of getting a strong clutch as it does not load up the crank thrusts like a diaghram clutch, as a rough guideline, two 1300 verto springs will give 1500ish lb of clampling, and two turbo springs circa 17-1800lb.
