Hello guys,

Apparently my ecu is irreparable and I need a replacement one. They are really hard to find!! Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a ECU for an mpi 1998 cooper 1.3i? Part number mkc 104 292.

If I can't find a replacement there is no hope for my little mini :(

Best wishes,

Jessie

Hey guys, thanks for the advise. Someone got back to me saying they could offer a 'free-running' replacement....is that a third party kind of deal? That link looked amazing, sadly I got in touch with them and it's already sold :( only £50 aswell, gutted I missed that one.

Irreparable? Have you tried ATP ELECTRONICS? they rebuilt my ECU for me last month. Really good at what they and it comes with a lifetime warranty!

Any replacment ecu will need the matching alarm even one with the same part number otherwise it wont work unless you find someone that can programe it in,best to get your old one repaired or have a replacment unlocked via a specialist such as atp as mentioned above.

Turns out I've been searching for the wrong part! :( BBAreman said they had a free running replacement for mkc104292 (which is what my local garage had told me it was) so emailed Somerford to double check before ordering and nope, its mkc104291. Feel like this is never ending :s ATP are the place that are saying they will no longer touch it... Somerford suspect that my immobiliser is faulty and is causing the ecu to fail or something...... they tried switching an ecu from the same kind of mini and it appeared to work but then cut out a few minutes later so they switched ecu and immobiliser and it seemed ok.... very strange....

Ecu and alarm are coded together so one will not work without the other.
