First time engine start up tonight, went reasonably fine, a few problems but nothing that can't be sorted. One thing is a fast reading rev counter. Kept a steady reading so not jumping all over the place. Rather oddly it went dead when I switched on the sidelights. Any clues as to where to look first? This is the three clock cluster.

After a little research on here would I be right in saying there is a small adjusting screw at the back of the rev counter that I can slow down or speed up the rev counter? I've fitted electronic points if that makes any difference.

How far out are we talking? A few hundred rpm, or double, or half?

I think it's about half as much too fast; engine speed-2000rpm rev counter 3000rpm. I say approx as my helper didn't bring his meter so we couldn't say for sure, could be slightly less. A bit of a puzzler as to why it stopped working when I switched on the lights so I think I need to take off the dash and check some of the connections.

My rev counter is also running about 1000 rpms to fast. I have a 3 clock dash. Any one know how to adjust it?

If you take the rev counter apart then you should see a little plastic wheel attached to the circuit board, turning this will adjust the speed of the rev counter. The pointer on the rev counter dial can be a pig to wiggle off. You'll either need to have the engine running whilst the rev counter is apart to set it or bore a hole in the casing that lines up with the adjuster wheel so that you can get access with a screwdriver whilst it's in place on the dashboard, I did this and also removed the fresh air eyeball on the dashboard to help get access with a screwdriver.
