Hi all, last few months I have even noticing a few odd characteristics with my box...

You'll have to forgive me as this sounds very odd and a bit silly, but my gearbox is usually what I would describe as a bit treacle like in between gears, 1st can play up and doesn't always go in first time, but that's about it and otherwise it's fine (bar 2nd syncho but that doesn't change obviously!) it will spend weeks like this and then suddenly I will be driving and when I go to change gear it is really free and notch free! I originally thought the linkage had come free! There was near zero resistance into gears, always goes into 1st and shifts a treat - I can simply 'flick' it into gear and it goes in perfectly! Then after a few days, weeks or whenever it suddenly reverts to being a bit stiff and becomes awkward getting 1st from neutral (have to usually go into 2nd first before I can get first) also the box feels really notchy into 1st and 2nd again!

Your probably thinking I've lost it, I would too, but you'll just have to go with it! Aha, been racking my brain as to a mechanical explanation to this but I can't think of anything?

Any ideas would be great, thanks :)

See if reverse also plays up when it has PMT*, or if pumping the clutch helps.

Reverse is mostly okay, always have to go steady with it anyway - pumping clutch doesn't seem to affect it

PMT, I like that one!

I don't think the floor mat would stop clutch pedal travel on the mini - but is also worth a look

I've had it on other customers cars in the past

esp throttle not getting full travel , due to floor mat wedged under neath

this is a good suggestion, but unfortunately I have had this even when floor mats were not there :(
