http://www.minispare...|Back to search

Originally fixed to the frame by nickel plated brass semi-tubular rivets but due to not finding any people often use standard pop rivets. Try not to damage the seal too much -Minispares do a seal (47H9535) but i've yet to find anyone who've managed to get one to fit properly. Some have repaired/refurbished the existing seal using a PU adhesive/Sealant or similar.

I was looking at my seals the other day and they're a mile off filling the apateur properly! Do they shrink over time?

Yes, nothing lasts for ever -apart from government taxes ( unless you're extremely rich & support whichever party is in power at the time).

From my limited knowledge/understanding: the ultraviolet light in daylight breaks up the polymer chains in rubber-any rubber will get harder, more brittle, & shrink over time.... & the plasticiser in any plastic leaches out over time causing the same symptoms.
