Cracking build
worth modding the oil pressure relief valve by drilling 3 holes in it - Keith Calver did a bit in one of the mini mags on this - stops the valve sticking

Thanks for the comments! Ben, must say I have followed your build threads on here for a while excellent work
and photos,
Thanks for your suggestion! Ryomini been involved with racing minis back in the late 60s and early
70s so longevity mods have been carried out without changing to much .spannerd on on my mates
self modded Auto/rally cross mini we won the both Scottish Autocross series in 1974 ,
Anyway on with the tale! for the first time on this job had to get another pair of hands to help refitting
engine/gearbox assy,
In the shape of my long suffering wife, whom first helped me with my 1st mini back in 1967 before we
were married!!! she was quite good at lapping in valves.
engine lifted up and repeat for dropping in,
in place and bolted in , old hands struggled getting mounting bolts fitted , and as they should be fitted i.e. nuts on
the outside facing down ! Started to refit bits and pieces to engine.
Still deciding on what route to go with manifolds, but as engine is standard probably go with original set up?
More to follow and thanks for looking

Thanks for the comments and likes ! folks, looking forward to getting back on this next week
been on holiday for a few weeks and would like to get it finished before the end of the year!
Decided to fit the standard manifolds as thought it would be cheaper for a prospective new
owner to to insure as an unmodified engine car.
So temp fitted carb ,needs stripping and cleaning up when I get back,
Still got to get quite a few parts for the finishing touches ,
As it was when went on holiday ! hopefully interior trim will be ready for collection next week and I can get the re trimming
of the seats done , picked up a set of reasonable S/H carpets from one of the Traders on here last time up in Glasgow.
So glad that I don't have to factor in labour costs to this, parts and materials are costly enough ![]()
More to follow when I get back to it! and once again thanks for looking.

Once again folks thanks for the comments,
As for paint used for final colour, Ahem! solvent base coat (ICI 2k) and HB body HS scratch resistant Clearcoat.
As we all know the Finnish is always part of a careful preparation process so first it was coated with 2 coats
of Lechlar epoxy primmer then 3 coats of HB body high build primmer surfacer !
I know not the ideal conditions for doing it in a home garage but out sourcing the paint work was not an option,
as in the last 51yrs have painted most things apart from Aircraft in all manner of places and conditions, and
used just about all types of materials!! Ive got to say really miss my Lowbake booth/oven .
As has been said in many threads on here proper ppe should always be used.
I always remember when the first 2pack paint became available 40+ yrs ago Gipfast60 then , I had just started
up in business after working in Holland was offered some to try, painted a Mini in black with it finish of the gun
was excellent and no polishing! then I painted a Triumph Spitfire for a lady doctor same result, when she came to
pick it up she was well impressed asked about the material used , then she told me what it does to your health
turned out she was a pathologist in The Royal Infirmary Glasgow , so the choice is yours.
Sorry folks for rambling on, fly back from Cyprus at 6am in the morning so killing time on here.
