Reg From Chassis Number?

Looked in past threads but links are dead and google searches prove fruitless or send me to high charging sites that seem to be a little iffy?
Called DVLA and they said I need the reg and chassis number together filled into a v62 before they release the V5.
Any help at all would be great.

Maybe trying writing to the dvla? They should have the details already.
I believe some later cars had the reg on the glass if you have the original glass? Long shot though and no guarantee it hasn't been changed!

Some people say a dealer can get it via an HPI search. You may need a friendly car dealer :)

You need a friendly car dealer who has access to Experian AutoCheck or similar.......there are usually some TMF members in trade who can help or on Mk1 Forum.

Having a little difficulty because the vin is pre 81. It's too short for some searches. A local garage tried for me and had the same issue.
Will keep digging :)

The cars been off the rd a while so I hope it in the system.
I tried a few online sites including ones I paid for but they all want the longer moder chassis number and don't recognise one from a classic car.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

I also had a similar problem with my mini moke which was as a shell and not much else .I had the chassis number and shell number which the heritage centre produced the birth certificate.Been unable to get any joy through DVLA/DVSA . I have all the details bar the reg. I've sent a note along with my application as they suggested but it's come back asking for the reg.

This allowed the dvla to check further records but could only grant me an age related plate.
At the end of the day it is better than nothing giving me tax free motoring . Hope it helps.
