Right, first off this is being discussed on another forum but as i have access to you guys aswell i thought i would get your thoughts and opinions too.
I am currently in the process of buying a project (cheap) reliant rialto for £350. I have put down a £50 deposit and since doing more research have a few issues.
Firstly, the V5 states it is a reliant rialto estate (this it definately what it appears to be), Registered in 1981. this is my first issue as rialtos wern't apparently made until 1982?
The engine number is ''OK/85/61551'' which is apparently a reliant robin engine made in october 1980, slightly unusual but it matches the number on the V5 and also the engine number which pops up on the hpi check someone did for me.
Chassis number matches the V5 but the person who checked that for me failed to write it down so i cant check it on any register etc.
When searched for on the mot checker website and also the hpi check, it comes up as a reliant robin (wrong model) and as first registered in november 1980.
With all of this in mind, some have suggested that it is perhaps an old rialto which has had its identity used for a trike and then a reliant identity stamped onto it with the robins v5.
This throws up more questions as the v5 clearly states reliant rialto estate and not robin.
lastly, the car did according to the hpi check have a colour change in 2002, since then it has been mot'd from that date up until 2012/13 when it was then taken off the road and has been sitting since.
I would be interested to hear what you guys thought of these points, coming from the mini world which has its fair share of vehicle identity issues.
thanks a lot, any thoughts and advice are welcome!
