Hi guys!

Due to recent hearing problems I have to cut down the noise in my car.
I already ordered a new twin box exhaust and some sound deadning.
Last thing to do is O cut down the induction noise. Whats the best to do this? Got a hif44 with a new itg filter and med stubstack atm.
I would like to lose as little power as possible.
I used to have one of these 13325527_1008878162513710_37860540446348
But i sold it a while ago, these should be silent and I guess they dont lose too much bhp? Anyone got one for sale?
Failing that, what other options do I have? And how good are they in terms of noise and power?
Any options I overlooked?
Many thanks for reading!

You could also add more sound deadening to the bulkhead, but you are thinking along the right lines as a standard airbox will be much quieter than most other filters.

Ear plugs could be the moat effective solution here!

If you can, try and get hold of an MG Metro air filter box and hose. From memory these flowed well for a standard airbox set-up and were very quiet (source of info from David Vizards bible!!!)

Cheers, Steve.

What you had is pretty much a Metro air filter, just a different intake because the Mini radiator is in the way.

I got one now. :)
Next question, I dont want to lose too much bhp. Would it be best to drill(dremel) 1 big hole in the airbox? Or a lot of small ones?
Cheers

If you cut holes in it, the noise level will go up again.

I've made my own airbox, haven't quite finished or fitted it yet though.  I can pop up the link to my Photobucket folder if you like Dusky?

Not so much if they are forward (in car) facing.

True, to an extent. It would cause droning, which if you've ever had an ear problem, is a nightmare :(

That was one of my options too! I was designing one , but then I realised I don't know anyone who could 3D print something this big for me  :tumble:

The biggest limiting factor I have in the box is the big snorkle wich has an area ( at the entrance) of 1060mm² , where the elbow has an area of around 1900mm² and the 44mm carb throat is 1520mm²
