Anyone got any ideas on how I might stop media going into the sills during blasting? I know I will be blowing it out but there is frickin waxoil in there and thought the media might stick to it and stay in there? and then what happens???? If only I could pressure wash with thinners. bottle brush and silicone grease remover maybe?

Not sure how I should link this from my build diary? sorry if this is not correct.

It would be very difficult.

Only way I could see you doing it possibly is high adhesive fabric tape (though I cant remember any trade names for it)

Rather than duct tape which can become a bit unstuck at the ends, the fabric stuff is more adhesive and stronger (less likely to blow through it)

You would then need to find anywhere you might get media down into the cavitys. Underside of sills, subframe mounting points, A and B pillars, companion bins ect. and would have to be quite careful about not going too near them with the blaster.

I dont really seeing you getting away with it, coming from someone who had their mini blasted, it was everywhere!

I would suggest that any residual media will stick to the Waxoyl, which will be very thick, almost solid, by now, and will do no harm. If not, it will become immobilised when you top up the Waxoyl, which I imagine you will do after the shell is painted.

Otherwise, use a chemical dip instead of blasting. Yes I know, costs, and many other pros and cons, which would go well off topic...

Another option that may not be very popular. Take them off. Outer sills rot inside out any way so going to all the trouble you are doing new sills wouldn't hurt anyways.

Also means you can paint inner sills with good stuff and deal with any rust/ maybe even delete or replace jacking points
