right, for anyone making a quick 998cc mini what would be the most idealic mods, bearing in mind its gotta stay at this engine capacity,

I have read that the engine benefits from being balanced, and while your at it you can get the block pocketed, to allow for a 1275 head, which will let more fuel flow. Carb wise any will do i spose at the mo i have twin 1 1/4 inch su's, and always a good manifold and exhaust are going to be worthy additions.

Could anybody please suggest anything else?

I think I might have to borrow one of the engines from work and strap it to a mini and then we'll see who the daddy is!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way the engine is a CF6-80C2 High Bypass Turbo Fan developing 55,000 lbs of thrust and was featured on Top Gear last sunday blowing away a mondeo and a 2CV. See pic

I'd go for a stage one kit, as a starter, then beef up the electrics and carbs.

electronic ignition always helps, get one off a 998 metro, the advance curve should be very similar then. HIF38 carbs work well on 998's too. Also think about cams, after putting the 266 in mine I would advocate them to anyone. I'm not sure as to the ideal cam for a 998, but do some research. Stage one kit like tom said, and a decent rad to keep the thing cool, an engine makes best power when its running at a decent temperature.
