well I had roughly adjusted timing as I don't have a stroboscope, and I thought it was rich but I don't know. Yes the dizzy has points. How do I set up the dizzy properly?Running too lean, timing off badly, is it on points????

Then if you can get it started again run it up to temp and swing the dizzy until the engine revs freely. This is as basic as it gets. If the engine is modified then ideally it's needs to beset up on a rolling road.
There is a mixture screw on the carb but setting these up is not my forte, however there are other peeps on here like Shifty who can help better.

I would check your plumbing if it's overheating
Have you checked your valve clearances?
and maybe look at a compression test

Is it just a newly installed engine or a fully rebuilt engine?

No 1 150
No 2 105
No 3 105
No 4 150
As you can see it looks like I have a gasket failure between cylinders 2&3 and since I tried to re-use the gasket from the previous engine foolishly I think this may be the cause.

Hopefully that's the cause and it's a relatively cheap fix.
Good luck

Fingers crossed - I reckon about a 3-4 hour job all round, done this before on my previous engine.
Kind Regards
