Hi, Anyone on the Forum have a Webasto Electric Sunroof fitted? or have encountered the common opening closing problems?

If this is the case please PM me so I can ask some questions.

I have phoned endless specialists and Mini specialists who have told me they don't want to get involved / not interested etc etc I have looked on eBay / for sale sites and not sure what my next steps would be..... bearing in mind this is my first problem and was always a gamble on a fairly priced Sportspack 1998 so I don't want to spend a fortune but I can't drive the car incase it rains lol

Option 1 - Take the whole sunroof out / investigate and see if I can resolve the problem (highly unlikely if specialists don't want to go near it)

Option 2 - Look for a Sunroof that may fit in its place but wind up MGB ones etc look so dated and not the direction I want the car to go in styling terms

Option 3 - I saw a Car SOS show in the new series and they had a 1 off window Vac Formed.... could this be done in a tinted version for a fixed sunroof like modern cars with black glass panoramic roofs that don't open but let lots of light in when the internal blind is opened

Option 4 - The only other cost effective solution is open up the Apeture even more and then bond to the remaining edges a Carbon Weave roof skin and then on the inside trim with a modern thick material

Any thoughts / ideas / links solutions would be greatly received!

Thanks Kevin

Changing the complete roof skin is a very easy job on a Mini. I fitted one in a day once when I rolled my 'S' on a rally. It then took another day to paint it and all was well.

With a later car it may be necessary to remove the headlining, but that is not too difficult.

If i were you I'd try fixing the problem. It is probably too much hassle for specialist to try, they will earn money more easily elsewhere.
