Currently piecing together a van which has a reasonable spec 1380 in it.

Question is should I wrap the manifold and if so with what ? It's a Maniflow with LCB

Many thanks

Definitely, especially whilst it's off! Not entirely sure how much you'd need for a manifold. I get mine from merlin

Mine's been wrapped for two year without an issue, starting to get a bit raggedy now though!

Thought about wrapping mine but decided not to going by what a lot of folk said about it. I've now burnt off paint on the lower bulkhead from the exhaust heat! Kinda wishing I'd done it now!

That's really helpful - many thanks. I'd really like to avoid burning paint off....(given what it's cost so far!)

If I buy from Merlin, what's the best sort to get ?? - don't suppose I'll need very much and does it stay on ok ??

Thanks

mine is held on with metal cable ties. Seems to do the job. You just need to keep the wrap tight and secure as you go.

Has anyone used a DIY ceramic coating that works well?

Why not have a professional ceramic coat, which is guaranteed to work well. Zircotec comes to mind. As far as I am aware, ceramic coatings are not a DIY proposition because they need to be applied by plasma spray if they are going to bond properly.

may as well buy three manifolds for the cost.

, I've spoken to Zircotec and its £345 plus vat and postage (ouch)

Ouch indeed! More than I expected, considering how many people use the process. But sometimes you really need to spend money. It just depends on how acute the problem is and how desperately it needs to be solved. At least you get something tangible for the money.

I've hot heat problems at the back of the engine, bubbled paint, found a couple bits of plastic ducting that I've managed to get fitted to take cold air from the grill around both sides of the engine to the back which will hopefully help. Also thought that a smallish hood scoop would help to blow some much needed cool air down the back of the engine too. I'll probably take the engine back out over the winter to tackle a few things so will either make a heat shield to bolt too the bulkhead or fix on some sort of heat resistant cloth, like asbestos but obviously not!

It is largely radiant heat, so you need something reflective as well as insulating. Heatmap is one such thing, for going on the bulkhead in sheet form.  Try www.carbuildersolutions.com
