Recently acquired 1995 MK VI Cooper, very little information on the car but from the logbook looks to have belonged to a TV Production company.

 

It has been suggested the engine had been blueprinted and its red rocker cover bears the logo 'O S Built' however, I cannot find anything much on the web for this company. 

 

I have two immediate things to sort out:

 

1) Non-trivial oil leak from the timing side of engine

2) Pulling left as you come on and off the throttle

 

I'll cover these in separate posts, but to start with I'd like to know what I have !!! Any comments gratefully received.  Engine bay.jpg   95.77K   21 downloads

Item 2 will almost certainly be steering rack.

Worth checking the tie bars are secure and not bent as well as a bent one will throw the castor angles out.

The only thing on the engine is the gold lettering 'Engine Preparation by O S Built' on the rocker cover:  Rocker Cover.jpg   45.75K   10 downloads

 

In scanning the net I found just one solitary comment that O S Built were the go to people for 5 port heads, nothing more. Will see if I can find it again. 

 

Meanwhile I'll take a gander under the car tonight and check out tie-bars and rack.
