I'm wanting to reduce the heat on my LCB. It's in stainless and I've read it's not a good idea to wrap stainless, I've spoken to Zircotec and its £345 plus vat and postage (ouch!). Has anybody seen any other products or got any other suggestions?

I'm trying to reduce under bonnet temp and also stop heat transfer onto the bulkhead.

I'm still in the process of building the engine and I'm trying to pre-empt problems. I assumed I would need to wrap the LCB to stop too much heat after a long run with no air if I was stationary in traffic. It sounds as though you don't think this will be a problem. With my last LCB I noticed the boot on the pot joint cracked several times and assumed it was not helped by excessive heat, also the bulkhead seemed to get very hot. Do you think I don't need to worry?

I've wrapped stainless in the past with great results. Also had manifolds zircoated, amazing technology, just damn expensive!

Did you wrap them in anything special or just the normal heat wrap because I thought it made stainless brittle?

Yes stainless is a little more brittle than mild steel, but wrapping should be ok.

Did you just use normal heat wrap?

I never scrimp on these things. I went for the expensive stuff.

you might like to check with manufacturer of the manifold, because I think heat wrapping invalidates any warranty.

After your post I checked and you're right, it does invalidate the warranty. Thanks

Well it's processing a product from a different manufacture, so in reality, yes you would invalidate it.
