Drove though a flooded Road the other day and today the gear linkage is really stuff.... Is it possible that water has got into the remote box and caused this? Any other ideas? Cheers

Yes for sure!  They have a few 'dumb' holes in them and they are not sealed. Along with water, which may have gone now, you'll likely find a lot of dirt in there too. I wouldn't leak it, it will only grind it away.

Just undo the metal plate on the bottom. And have a look.

You will need to get the car up in the air.

Thanks guys, I'll have a look at the weekend, see if I can call in a favour - aka some time with a ramp... :)

Think rapidly cooling the cat would have done any harm?

The car was in water to just above the floor for a good few minutes :/ - we had floods round here and I got caught out in it!
