Hi,
I'm replacing the starter motor bushes in a Lucas M35J starter motor.
At the commutator end there's a paper gasket under a metal cover with a raised lip, over which a plastic sealing cap fits, this metal cover is riveted on.
Lucas Kit TCB117, along with the new bushes, contains a flat plate and a felt sealing washer together with new rivets.
There's no instructions with the kit and a search of the web doesn't throw up a Lucas service bulletin.
Has anyone had experience of fitting this kit?
Do I discard the existing plate and plastic cover, in favour of the flat plate and felt washer?
This would leave this end of the motor armature with the square end exposed, whereas it is currently covered by the plastic cap.
