Don't know if anybody on here has been lucky enough to go to both of these events.?

It's my 50th soon, and I'm planning to go to one of these: Initially the Festival of Speed, but a colleague has recommended the Revival.

Being into Minis, perhaps it should be the Revival....

Any thoughts .?

Both are good, the Revival only has Mini's racing every other year, so if you choose that event make sure it is the year that has Historic Mini's racing in the saloon car race (St. Marys Trophy) and to view up close in the race paddock.

The Festival of Speed has a bigger variety of all motorsport which is rarely seen all in one place and includes the modern era, F1, Rally cars, Superbikes, etc, and usually has a few famous Mini's especially in the Rally Stages.

I go to the Revival every year and absolutely love it. So much going on, great racing, music, dressing up etc. Been to the FoS a couple of times and always seems a bit of a let down in comparison.

Fos is one of those events where you can go once and don't need to go again. Just seems to be more or less the same every year and just gets boring in my opinion. Revival is always good fun though!

I do the revival every year ( all 3 days ) absolute top end classic car and bike racing, brilliant air displays, great atmosphere, they don't even take the pi** on the food prices.
I'm pretty sure the mini's won't be there this year, not unless they change things around, but now swifty can't win unless it's a bit damp, the galaxies or the thunderbolt that turned up last year, simply have too much grunt down the Lavant straight.

Revival is a lot better than FOS but the Members Meeting in March is the best out of all 3. A lot less 'corporate' and fancy dress and a better race meeting.

Got to agree with the above, MM followed by Revival then FOS, not been to a FOS since 2009

As above.

The Memeber Meeting is like the revival (vintage/classic racing cars) but ALOT less busier because they are only allowed to offer tickets to members only. So is about 1/3 of the number of tickets available for the Revival
If the total allocation of tickets is not used up by the members, they are then offered to members on the waiting list and then to the public.

The only negatives for the MM is the weather (held in March so very hit and miss) and no spitfires

I think the Revival is a victim of its own popularity and is sadly now too crowded (there is a limit on tickets sold to try to prevent overcrowding) and true enthusiasts are beginning to be out numbered by those who are more interested in the 'fancy dress' fashion show posing than the cars........the Members Meeting is a return to what the Revival started out as, much less crowded and all about the cars but tickets are quite expensive as a result.

FOS is spread out over a larger area of the Goodwood Estate which makes it a little easier to escape the crowds and see things close up......you can stand at the top of the hill and see WRC + Historic Rally cars in the forest in front of you while F1 and Superbikes race past behind you......not many places in the world where that happens.

That cool. One tip from me. If you don't live local the Chichester then make sure you book a hotel somewhere near by. Gates open at 7am and by 10am the roads are solid with traffic.
There are a lot of great B&B but they do increase their prices for that weekend and often make you book 3 nights even if you are only going to the event on one day. But there are a very premier Inns and travelodges near by
I always head straight to the pits area in morning so that you can see all the cars parked up and get photos etc without tripping over thousands of people. Then spend the afternoon watching the racing and the air display
If you go Saturday then there is a fun fair and live music and a firework display that goes on into the night.
Lastly on the outside of the track is a free area that anyone can go to. Access to the track
Is via a foot bridge. They have food and a giant
Live TV screen of the event. More importantly this is where member of the public park their classic cars which they to drive to the event with. I guarantee you will never see as many E Types in one field

I think the fun fair and fireworks are Saturday night of the members meet not the revival? All three are great though.

Members meet is the best in my opinion but you need to dress up very warm, the revival is also very good but very busy and the festival of speed is very spread out, the rally stage is less busy and you get to see a great range of rally cars,.

If you don't want to be there to see everything then getting for 10.30 11.00 ish you can drive straight in and it means your closer to the exit which you might be pleased of when you come to leave.
