I suggest not using the anchor bolt as that may expand the thing and jam it tighter. Is the tap you are using the best size? If it is a taper or first cut tap, maybe the tapered end is bottoming, so grind a bit off the end and try again.

Otherwise it will have to be drilled out, and the seat refaced, which will be an engine out and full strip down job to get all the swarf out. But before that, maybe try a few rapid thermal shocks, alternating freezer spray (down a thin tube as supplied with WD40 cans), followed by something like steam or hot air, similarly applied.

Or carry on hammering it as you have been. All of these things in combination may loosen it. Most stubborn things let go in the end.

I don't think the layout of the oil ways allows getting hydraulic pressure behind it. Thinking of a good old Wanner grease gun, about 9000psi.But that might burst the block or blow out oil gallery plugs.

I don't know why it has jammed so tightly as they are normally fairly loose.

And here is the state of the cup

Now, got the new one in and it's moving freely. But still not getting oil pressure.

Can someone clarify how to prime the oil pump. Am going to get an oil can tomorrow to do it.

Cheers

By the look of that plunger I'd say something broke inside the motor.

I had an engine with a broken idler gear wich trashed the crank, bores and bearing shells, but the plunger didn't look half as bad as that one!

Well done getting it out! I guess there is a knack to not overtightening the anchor bolt, just sufficient to pull it and no more.

Some of the markings are due to it being jammed, and forcibly extracted, but some as Dusky suggests may be due to some nasty metallic particles, presumably what caused it to jam.

I assume you do have the correct magnetic drain plug? That "should" prevent gearbox swarf from getting into the engine oilways.

I advise a precautionary stripdown, in case some bits are busy chewing their way into the crankshaft or other expensive bits. If you find nothing, that is good, you have only wasted time and the cost of some new gaskets. But if you do find something, better now than later.
