Does anybody know why I would have the fuel tank breather valve from the spi cars on my carb Mayfair? Can I just rip all this out and replace with the standard breather pipe?

It was decided many moons ago, that it was not very kind to the planet to pump everyone's fuel tank fumes into the atmosphere, so a pipe was run to the carb to burn the unwanted gases. If it's not doing any harm I would leave it.

My sprite(1993) had the charcoal canister etc, I've removed the canister and plugged the carb breather pipe take off, I've also had to change the vacuum advance pipe to the older setup
