Plated Steel Bundy. Need to check around a bit as the stock stuff was fairly thin walled, while it maybe tempting to use something thinker, you do need to get the inner in there and the wheel boxes clamped over the OD as well as the Tube Nut.
I don't think Copper would last too well.

I've seen universal kit car racks sold with copper tube. How well you mount the motor and wheel boxes ought to make a fair difference.

You would need at least a cheap flaring tool for that size of pipe (possibly improvised), and copper isn't going to work, considering that the outer spiral on the cable which forms the rack is fairly hard steel.

Tiger got any names or links as I have had a look at some I remember but can't see anything. The several kit car suppliers usually have stuff like this, and wheelbases and motors in their catalogues. Worth a look and possibly cheaper than from a Mini supplier.

Hydraulic hose company otherwise.

Sorry I was on the phone at the time and looking things up was difficult. CBS was one of the companies I was thinking of but could not remember the name. Now on the PC. Try this link:

They claim to be able to make them up for you, so although they don't seem to list Bundy pipes, a phone call may get what you need.

And maybe a motor if I can get mine working well.

The same people supply what looks like a standard Lucas motor. Maybe worth comparing the price to that charged by Mini suppliers? You never know, you may save a few quid.
