Right, my overheating and blown expansion tank was the fan which had seized. I am fitting a new fan later today.

I am also fitting an Alloy new Minispares tank rather than the plastic standard ones.

Need to flush coolant system and refill and bleed. It's a 97 MPI.

Am I correct in this procedure:

1. Remove bottom rad hose.

2. Pull OUT lever on dash to open heater maxtrix.

3. Stick garden hose in header tank and run water through until it runs clear.

4. Stick bottom hose back on.

5. Refill via header tank with a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze - do I REALLY need distilled or deionized water or is tap water fine?

6. Run car up to temperature until fan kicks in with rad cap off to bleed the system.

7. Wait for water level to drop slightly indicating air bled out and re top up.

Is that all correct? Cheers guys.

Don't go daft with the garden hose, too much pressure may blow the heater matrix
