The washers I recieved from my "trusty local parts place" are 12.42mm I.D.
Could be the source of the leak then?

used 2 of these before : http://www.minispare...|Back to search wich are 11.4mm id

Minispares advises this as the top one of the banjo bolt and says to use  233220A

on the bottom of the union ( between union and flexi) any idea what ID those are? Edit : measured the old one and its around 10mm

This is what I thought is a crack, but it appears to be a casting line when looking on the pic.

cheers

Dusty, I got some washers and measured them.

The Top one 3H550 is 11.30 mm ID. I didn't measure the OD but just be sure it doesn't foul the casting of the fitting.

The bottom one 233220A is 10.10 mm ID.

The reason for the different sizes is the Banjo Bolt has a shoulder under it's head. The idea of the shoulder is to centralise the cast fitting.

The washer you have at 12.42 mm ID might just be too big.

I mentioned this recently in another thread. Stupidly, the hoses are often handed, the left is machined for a flared metal pipe, while the right has its top face machined smooth for a banjo. Use a left hose on the right and the banjo will leak.

There is no excuse for aftermarket suppliers as it would actually be cheaper to stock one fitting, machined for both flared tube and banjo, but we are where we are...

I 've read that not too long ago , wich would lead me to think I have 2 LH hoses as they both looked identical ( I checked them a few times to comfirm as I was scared to fit them the wrong way round.  ( bought these http://www.minispare...IT.aspx|Back to )

cheers

It is annoying! I have to wonder about the lack of brainpower shown by Mini suppliers nowadays. A left hose will usually not seal to a banjo for no good reason.

This is the 'new' bottom washer vs the old one, big difference and you clearly see it wasn't centered ( probably because the 2mm bigger id)
