GUESSWORKS now has available a shim which is designed to be placed behind the larger of the laygear thrusts. This is to overcome the issue of oversized thrusts being difficult to obtain.

Designed for the A series and A+ 4 synchro gearboxes, shims are available in two sizes, 0.004" (0.10mm) and 0.008" (0.20mm) priced at £1+vat each. They are also available in a trade/multi pack where you gear 5 of each size ( 10 in total ) for £7+vat.

These are made in house.

hmmm would those shims have the same problems as the old type thrust washers without the tabs?

Unlikely, they're captured between the laygear thrust and the case, neither of which move.
