I am changing my SPI engine for a an engine with a BMW bike head.

I will remove the purge valve but retain the charcoal canister to vent from from the fuel tank.

Looking the canister i see there are two lines at the top one which comes from the tank and one to the purge valve. It is my intention to leave the second open to the atmosphere allowing the fuel tank to vent through the canister.

I guess that is alright?

The Charcoal canister also has a rubber pipe at the bottom, what is the function of this? Does this also allow the canister to vent?

The pipe is either linked to the compensating spacer in the bottom of the canister or is the fresh air inlet to the seperator. I've never opened a rover one before, although they mostly follow the same type of format.

Apologies for the lat ere ply I had missed you roost.

What you say makes sense. I guess it is not an issue to have the line whig normally runs to the purge valve open (may but a small filter / one way valve on it)?
