My 1.3i Engine and gearbox will be in need of a rebuild/replace in the not too distant future

Just wondering on what ideas people come up with as too what i do!

I Have roughly 3k to chuck at this

I would like more power so i am thinkng of putting a turbo to it any reccomendations parts required what need doing to the engine and box

I'm unsure of the 8v and 16v route too much money i think

any help would be great

You will gain a healthy amount of power. I'm not sure about BHP figures, or costs involved, but imagine it would cost around £1k? You would also need another ecu to control both the ignition and fuel injection system. :highfive:

are you rebuilding it yourself?

if not then 3k you have is what I would budget for paying someone else for a box/short engine/head rebuild, you may be able to get a nice worked head with that budget giving a bit more power, with a decent exhaust system you could be up around the 80bhp mark

You got think what you want the car for first, daily.motorway, rally or weekend, makes a lot difference. 3k a lot money but not much on a engine and box with labour.

Get the box rebuilt

reboar to 1293 depending on mile wear ect

New cam

red paint :)

Better head stage 3

Money spent with labour.

if that not to your liking bolt a supercharger on.

For 3k you're not going to get a lot if someone is rebuilding it.

If you add up all the ancillaries (water pump, oil pump, gaskets, bearings, oil filter etc), new pistons, recondition the gearbox, I don't think you're going to have much left for mods, although I could be wrong. Personally if i had anymore money i'd look at your cylinder head.

3k once gear box has been rebuilt £500 min, new clutch 100, engine work with new pistons cam bearings oil pump crank sorted 1000 for machining and sandard parts, 150 for gaskets oil and antifreeze clips etc we have done 1750, labour 7 hours to take in and out 350 min, then the hours of engine assembly you will be getting a standard engine for that money.
