Hi folks. I've just signed up however have been searching on your very resourceful forum for some time.
I am in the process of purchasing a 1975 mini 1000, however the V5 is missing. The current owner has a bmiht certified copy of a factory record, and also some old tax discs.
The numbers on the factory record do tie up I'm trying to determine if this will be suffice to gain a V5.
There is no body number on the factory record (states not recorded) , however I understand this wasn't recorded in 1975?
The colour of the car and interior also states not recorded, but I assume this is straight from the factory production records.
Ultimately I want to find out if the DVLA will issue a V5 with the info available and allow the original registration number to be used. The plates are still on the car, however where the Factory Record Certificate asks for Other Information, it states the registration number then in brackets says (as provided by you).
I've also noticed the Factory Record doesn't have a section or specifically ask for the cars registration? Perhaps baca use the car would indeed not have been registered at the point of factory departure.
I've typed the REG into the DVLA tax site and it does indeed come up with a 1975 Mini 1000.
One final point, the floor pans are still original and one has factory item number on it. Whilst this is clearly not solid evidence, it may help if necessary?
Thanks foe taking the time to read, and apologies if this kind of situation has indeed been covered elsewhere that I didn't manage to locate when searching.
I'm really keen and excited about buying the car, but also nervous that obtaining the required V5 with the original plate becomes a fruitless exercise.
Many thanks for any help you can provide.

You'll need to fill in a V62 Form from the DVLA as you have all the important information this shouldn't be a problem costs around £25

You are over thinking this.
To apply for a V5C using a V62 you only need to know the chassis number and registration number and other info that is specified on the form. If you are using a V62 it will take a little longer as the DVLA write to the previous registered keeper to confirm they have sold the car.

As long as you have the registration number and the VIN (will be on the car or on the heritage cert) that's all you need. Fill out the form and they will supply you with a V5 in about three or four weeks.
If the gov.uk website still has a record of the car with that specific registration it should stay with the car.
