Hi guys I'm just wondering that I would need to convert from my brakes which have a servo to not running one? I have aloy 4 pots on the front and standard back brakes if that helps. I'm also thinking of fitting a an adjustable brake bias valve but is it worth it the car will be used for track and weekend driving? Many thanks

Mini rear brakes dont do much and increasing the bias to the rears is going to make the rears more prone to lock up under heavy braking, as for removing the servo it will increase your input at the pedal.

If your car was built with the servo you must inform the insurance company. They don't always take too kindly to changing the spec on the brakes and they like it even less if you've done any other modifications to increase the power output of the engine. I wanted to remove mine and the premium increase was significant.

The adjustable balance valve, or any other method of achieving the same thing, is illegal on the road.

And only fails IVA test not MOT. In fact only way it would fail on the mot would be if it leaked

If the servo is one that acts on a pivot (directly connected to the pedal rather than the remote type) you'll also need to change the brake pedal itself as the angles are different (the pedal will sit high) and the return springs are different across the clutch and brakes pedals.

The bias valve is also unnecessary, you just need to use the right size rear pistons - there is a good website with all the information on somewhere, I can't find it at the moment. An example is if you use a yellow-tag with the standard rear pistons as fitted with 8.4" servo assisted front brakes you'll lock the rear wheels very easily, you'd need to use a 1/2" bore rear pistons to re-balance the brake effort.

Okay this seems a lot more complicated then I originally thought I will do more research into this. And on the side of insurance mods the whole car is going to be modified in some way or another so I'm sure the servo won't make much of a difference lol

This is the list of original spec brake components (about halfway down the page):

You'll need one of these http://www.ebay.co.u...ZPl-ibovOF8JtMw a pedal box and a bit in piping.
