Hi all, currently have a hif 38 with a k&n cone filter, but have decided to revert to the standard filter box with a k&n filter inside. My question is  - is the elbow from carb to filter box the same for a hif 38 as a hif 44 as I need to find one?

They are different.

The one that suits the HIF38 is a CAM4598.

Darn! These are NLA from Minispares etc. Only ones that crop up on ebay don't usually say what carb they are for.

Any particular reason you're going back to the std box?
I have one with the elbow and Will only use it for the comming week, should have a even more silent filter setup after this week

Cheers

Noise! Standard air filter box should be quieter, and I've heard that a k&n filter inside the standard box is probably better than the cone filter anyway. No urgency, but if you want to part with your elbow and box pm me here. Thanks, Peter

Yep, heard the same, up to 85-90 bhp, but I fear mine might exceed that, thats why I'm making a custom box now.
Will keep you updated. :)

Am I right in thinking the opening on the carb side would be 38mm? So I know what to look out for at an autojumble this weekend.

I think the bolt hole orientation gives a clue to what one you need.
