I'm sadly putting the mini in the garage in September to work on the bodywork and am unsure what colour to go for when I'm done? Just looking for style ideas really and what colours work well together without being too common (i.e Red with white roof)

At the moment it's this colour

Currently I'm playing with  Viper Green with black roof/accents. A dark grey with white (or even black accents)

What are your thoughts?

What style are you going for? Retro, standard or futuristic with lasers?...

Anthracite with matt-black roof and trim...

I guess its down to your own taste and what you want to do, yellow with a black roof would be my choice though ;) :D

I am currently restoring the same car (a Y reg with those horrid Leyland hubs). I decided on a classic colour scheme with a retro sporty style.

Almond Green (BMC GN 37) with Old English White Roof (BMC WT03).

The wheels are sitting in the garage and are 10 x 5 Weller Classic Sports painted Old English White to match the roof. The Rear Subframe is also OEW.

The interior is black and white and the headlining will be charcoal black.

Need 2 new wings, 1 A Panel & front panel.

Need the common lower quarter repair pieces both sides.

Repair panel for the quarter window (chopping it off my mate's mini)

2 new doors

rear valance

and of course whatever else decides to show itself underneath what I remove as per!

That looks sweet. One option for me is Surf Blue with OEW roof.

I'll be painting it myself as I work in a body shop, but havent painted much yet so will be good to get experience anyway!

it's all personal preference really. I like classic colours - non metallic, light - medium strength. Things like tweed grey (the colour i'm painting mine), almond green, speedwell blue.

With colour, your on your own, as its your opinion that matters. For example, I don't like mainstream colours on my minis, so there's no red, white, brg, but on the other hand, not a lot of people would own a bright orange mini..

Good luck, took me about two years of the resto to decide mine

My 1978 started life out YELLOW! Now, it's retro OEW & Almond Green with that sporty 'look' you want - Not for the purists, but I love her!!
