Recently changed the original steering wheel for a steel/wood rim, in my 'pocket rocket'. Because it's slightly oversize the Stoplok device is no good. Not sure about the handbrake to gearshift device. Looked at so many other devices then came up with this simple idea. Had a length of steel link chain cut by my local ironmonger. Also bought to Abus Padlocks. Locked one end to a convenient bolt hole in the seat frame (floor level, where it stays) the other end locked to one of the steel wheel spokes. Unlock it and just drop it on the floor. Takes no time and  h :D ighly visible and not too expensive, so unless an opportunist thief carries a set of allen keys to unbolt the steering wheel.........Need I say more. Job done!

In a lot of cases mini thefts are not instances where the cars are broken into and driven off, the majority are lifted from the side of the road by tow trucks or similar - at least that is what I have been led to believe.

My first option as a deterrent would be to fit a removable steering wheel boss. Whenever its parked, take the wheel off, lock it in the boot or take it with you. No driving it away with no steering wheel.

To prevent it being carted off, im afraid there isn't much you can do aside from chaining it to the ground on your drive

It's a lot harder to drag a car onto a recovery truck with the wheels turned full lock
