I have an spi I'm converting to a twin choke webber. If I fit a manual fuel pump can I just leave the spi tank fitted or does it require power in order to allow fuel through ? I know if I keep the spi tank (powered) I will need to reduce the psi to the webber with an inline fuel regulator. I have one but wanted to keep the engine bay as clear as possible so ideally use the manual pump.

The fuel pump in the SPi and MPI is in the tank. The Ecu controls it and the pressure provided.

You would need to remove the pump and adjust the pickup length etc....

Sell it and get an old tank.

Without the pump energised will it still allow fuel through it if pulled through with a manual pump or does it total shut of unless energised.

You could use a pressure regulator, like we do for turbos. Take it this isn't a road car?

It will be a road car I think I'll swap out the tank may fit a fuel cell in the boot and a manual fuel pump. Would a manual pump be sufficient enough to supply a webber. Or fit a fuel cell with a facet pump ?

It's the engine's HP that dictates what max fuel flow is needed. You might benefit from a leccy pump to feed the Weber enough pressure.

I'd look in to emissions if it needs to pass an MoT.

It's in a 91 model car so won't be needing emissions test. I think facet pump and fuel cell will be the way to go thanks for your comments.

most electric pumps need a regulator anyway.

If I bought a fuel cell and facet pump and added my fuel regulator and mounted it all neatly in the boot would this be fine or does the regulator need to be at engine bay end?

pointless fitting a regulator in the boot.

it should be mounted close to the carb.
