Hey guys got my mini all back together and all that's left is to get it started. Only problem is I don't have spark. Pretty sure its down to my wiring. I am using a 98 r1 main harness that was missing a bunch of unnecessary items so I followed the diagram to make sure everything was wired correct. I also built the rest of the harness from scratch and works flawlessly.

So i figure the best way to paint the picture of how its wired and what wires were cut is to list them and what I did so you can tell me where I went wrong.

-R/B wire from both coils (Wired to ignition key on position)

-L/R wire from ignitor unit to fuel pump relay (grounded)

-R/G wire from gauges to back up fuse (fuse and wire was missing so I spliced in wire and wired it to the volt regulator)

-L/B wire from ignitor to main switch (main switch is gone so Have grounded

Following things are deleted from the harness,

1) main switch
9) relay unit
10) starting circuit cutoff relay
11) fuel pump relay
13) side stand switch
34) left handle bar switch
38) clutch switch
55) right handle bar switch
57) engine stop switch
58) start switch

Using the 7) starter relay all 4 wires were cut.

-R wire ( wired to fuse panel)
-R wire ( wired to power ignition)
-R/W wire ( wired ignition for power relay and ignitor unit)
-L/W wire ( wired to a momentary start button to ground through the neutral switch.

My fuel pump is wired to its own relay independent of the r1 harness.

Coil pickup resistance was good.
Coils seem good
New spark plugs
New voltage regulator
New stator

So if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

So I figure it is probably difficult to understand what I am describing so I added a Pic to explain, this isn't the exact wiring diagram I used and there are some minor changes as I do not have the CycleLock. red dots are where the harness was cut. yellow boxes are things no longer attached. should make it easier to understand where my connections in the above post were made.

Have you got the R1 clocks wired in? If not it might be helpful as they show a log of current and previous faults.
Could give you an idea of where to start looking at least.

This might sound stupid but is there not a switch for the foot stand which if not by passed, it prevents the engine from starting?

Funny you said that as I had the wire from the CDI to the side stand switch going to a 12v source and never realized. As soon as I relocated it to ground I got spark.

Car still wont start through, low compression across the board. Hoping it's just a case of the rings shrinking from no oil from sitting. So I'm soaking the pistons in Marvel mystery oil as my last ditch attempt

She lives! Low compression across the board, not enough to start. Soak the pistons in Marvel mystery oil thinking the rings shrunk from years of oil.

Turned out this was the case after half a can of starting fluid
