Maybe this question is better suited for the 10" wheel thread, but I've clicked through it and haven't really found what I'm looking for.

I'm currently fitting hi-los to my Mk3/4 Mini and I'm seeking a pretty specific 10" wheel fitment.  I will be buying new arches to suit.  What offset or backspacing would I need to achieve this width?  I am aiming for 10x6 wheels but I'm having a hard time estimating.

(The last car is Bart Smith's race car - a little bit less aggressive but certainly still fantastic.  I guess I could ask him directly, too)

Your looking for the most negative offset you can find. The higher the negativity the more the wheels stick out. The number increases, usually the dish on the wheel increases too.

I did a google a while back when trying to find out something similar. Plenty of info out there

as above - all three cars have the same 'Jap' market minilites available from Minispares - a lovely wheel with a -30 or something ridiculous offset!

Expensive!

A set of -6 offset Ultralites and narrow group 2 arches will give u something similar for half the price!

Most standard 10" wheels are designed for drum braked minis so will in general have a near 0 offset. Cooper S rims and those specifically made for the cooper S have a +ve offset to keep the wheel under the arch..

Those which 'poke out' ie -ve offset are in general, either split rims or banded steelies... or the wheel bearing munchers which are the jap 10" wheels designed to be fitted on cars with 8.4" disk brakes. The wheels have such a heavy -ve offset they don't interfere with the calipers.

10 X 6 Minilite wheels with a ET +6 offset over 7.5" disc look like this

Sorry I should have taken a picture of them from the front when I had them fitted but as they stuck out way too far for the look I was going fore I swapped them over for a set of 4.5 wheels
